Mäkelä

The long building mass follows the contours of the terrain in a manner characteristic of Aalto’s style. Mäkelä resembles the simplified row house complexes of German industrial neighbourhoods or “Siedlungen”. In the 1930s town planning ideas came to Finland mainly from Germany.
